Mayo is a census-designated place (CDP) in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. The population was 3,153 at the 2000 census.

Mayo is located at 385336N, 763016W (38.893264, -76.504371)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 12.1 km (4.7 mi). 6.6 km (2.5 mi) of it is land and 5.6 km (2.2 mi) of it (45.94%) is water.

The area is also commonly referred to as Edgewater.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 3,153 people, 1,195 households, and 862 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 479.3/km (1,243.8/mi). There were 1,303 housing units at an average density of 198.1/km (514.0/mi). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.32% White, 1.27% African American, 0.51% Native American, 0.67% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.19% from other races, and 1.01% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.78% of the population.
